This tip is one of the most usefull in tubing manipulation,quite possibly the most widly used tubing technique.
By rolling back the tubing over itself or turning the tubing inside out you can create many of todays common fly designs.
This tip is commonly used to create squid, shrimp, sand eels, streamers, poppers, sliders ect.
For example, as in the picture shown above, you will notice that the tubing is slid onto the hook shank and secured, it was then coated with Softex so that it would remain flexable as well as to lock it in place.
The tubing is then being pushed rearward or rolled over it's self creating a hollow cavity which will shroud the tail of the fly. Roll the tubing until it achieves the desired effect.
If you perform this procedure in reverse or toward the hook eye, you can create perfect popper faces.
As you look more closely at many of the patterns shown on this site you will notice how many of them incorporate this technique.
